Mihika Verma was born in Delhi and brought up in Mumbai. Her father a Punjabi married her South-Indian mother. Mihika did her schooling in Bombay Scottish and went to St. Xavier’s for her graduation but later joined Mithibai College.
The petite actress started her professional career when she was in her first year of college. She started as a model and has done ads for Mc. Donalds, Airtel, Sunsilk and Britannia 50-50. She also participated in Ms. India pageant at the age of 19 in the year 2004 and reached the top 5 finalists. Along with her biggies like Tanushree Dutta and Sayali Bhagat too were in the race for the crown. Mihika was the youngest contestant and is of the opinion that the right age for participation should be 20-22. After the national pageant, she participated in the International beauty pageant where she won the title of Ms. Photogenic and Ms. Catwalk. Mihika has done numerous fashion shows and has walked the ramp with many big faces which include Anushka Sharma of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi fame. Few know that Mihika was also offered the coveted role of Tani, the lead opposite SRK in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi but somehow things didn’t materialise. She had also auditioned for Nagesh Kukkunoor’s Ashaayein but there too things couldn’t materialise.
TV happened to her by fluke. Smriti Irani who turned producer saw her pictures on a site and called her for the audition. Fortunately she had a bad throat on the day of the audition as that is what got her the meaty role in Smriti Irani’s Virruddh in the year 2007. During the time of the audition she told the production house that she had a sore throat and thus would sound different. It was her honesty that impressed Creative Head Sandiip Sikcand who called her to say that she was shortlisted as the role she was to play too required an honest girl. Smriti later recommended her to Balaji and since then there has been no looking back for the actress.
Her favourite actor on TV is Achint Kaur and she feels that she enacts all her characters with effortlessly. She loves to read and whenever free she prefers to hit the gym.
